Happy New Year, Gus!
This is from your cousin, Sarah--also marching in Augustus White's footsteps--and wondering whether it's possible to get this wine on the East Coast? If so, where?
How exciting to see the silhouette and the name

I just wanted to send an email to you that I purchased your wine for a birthday dinner party last night. It was delicious. I had never had wine from your winery before and purchased it based on a recommendation from my favorite wine store – The Wine Mine in Oakland.

The food for the party was French (with Cassoulet as the main course), so I decided to get French varietals (from France and the U.S.) that would marry well into the theme of the night. I almost went with a White Cotes du Rhone but based on the recommendation bought your wine. A California style would be a nice addition. It had a great mouth feel. Thick on the palate but bursting with fruit. Really delicious.

The other wines we served were a Cremant Rose from the Loire, an unoaked Chardonnay from Washington, a Corbierres (mostly Carignane from Languedoc), and another Languedoc red that was mostly Syrah. All were greatly enjoyed by the party goers and the birthday girl. Frankly, I believe that I enjoyed your wine the most. All who tried raved about, most favoring it versus the Chard.

Anyhow, I wanted to share my first experience with your wine and I look forward to trying more of your wines in the future.

My taste is fairly eclectic. Most of my cellar is California (for obvious reasons) but always enjoy the great wines coming from Oregon

We stumbled across the Velo Rose yesterday while shopping for New Years Eve bubbly at Canyon Mkt. in San Francisco. It was widely acclaimed as the "hit" of our celebratory buffet. Keep the hits coming!

Chris,
I hope you're enjoying your new bike! I agree that wine has a number of soul-mates; for some of us it is bicycles and books, but certainly good food should top the list. I certainly hope you found some Velocity or Velo while you were down here.
